SERVICES

Paediatric Cardiology
Consultations

Our child friendly cardiologist will take a detailed history and perform a clinical evaluation based on the issues and reasons for the referral.

Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram is a heart ultrasound used to assess the structure, function and flow of blood. There is no radiation as it uses ultrasound waves to see inside your heart. No preparation is required and the procedure will be performed by our cardiologist and reported on the same day as the consultation.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

An ECG is the assessment of the electrical activity of the heart muscle. It is performed by placing small stickers on the chest, arms and legs. It is not painful nor does the child feel any electrical current. It takes only a few minutes to perform the test as the child lies still.

24 Hour Holter

This device is worn by the child with three sticky probes on the chest. It records the electrical activity like an ECG for 24 hours at home. The child can continue to perform all normal activities and go to school wearing the device. Once the device is returned, it is analysed thoroughly for any heart rhythm issues.
